Jadran tuna - tuna farming experts
After we successfully exported longline caught bluefin tuna to Tokyo tuna market in years 1995 and 1996 (at the time as our mother firm "Saint Jacques"), we have established today's company "Jadran tuna" (Adriatic tuna) and extended our production program to tuna farming. Today we are among leading Croatian tuna exporters, and most of our production is being exported to Japan.
Established in year 1997, Jadran tuna is following world's technology and market trends, and developing constantly. Since most of our production is quality tuna meat for Japan market (used in sushi and sashimi), we are using technology chosen and controlled by our clients in order to fulfill client's requirements.
We start preparing our tuna in December by taking it out of cages and deep frosting to -70 °C to ensure quality and freshness. Except bluefin tuna we also produce frosted anchovy (-60 °C), fresh pilchard, mackerel and anchovy.
Jadran tuna history
Our mother firm, fish trading company Saint Jacques (named after shell species) was the first one that exported Croatian longline tuna to Japan. That was proven to be very successful because Japanese market flawlessly detected quality bluefin tuna that was growing in ecologically pure and rich Adriatic sea, in perfect environment for the bluefin species. After a fully successful export in years 1995 and 1996 new company Jadran tuna was established 1997 by our Saint Jacques and Takaei trading L.t.d. from Tokyo.
Since then, ownership part was bought by professional fisherman, in order to ensure fishing quota, enough young tuna needed for farming and fish used for tuna feeding. Having professional fisherman as shareholders guarantees material and quality production in long term.
Jadran tuna started farming in 1997, having 2 tuna cages at the time. Five years after, in 2002 we already had 8 fishing ships, 2 towboats and refrigerator ship.
Today, we have 13 fishing ships, 2 towboats, refrigerator ship and several ships and boats used for farming and various interventions.
